Budak Pantai's little Christmas Do @ blue Moo , 17 Dec 2004 Fri

After quite a few years of big celebrations - featuring choirs, bands and on one year as many as 5 different singing groups, this17th of December, we're finally coming to our senses and having justa little Christmas celebration for a change. As it turns out, Christmas is all about little things - little baby, little manger, and O Little Town of Bethlehem - so I think we're ingood company. So we'll be having a little food, a little drink and just oneperforming group this year...and yes, it's going to be Budak.

Since its not really Christmas unless you're singing something,Budak will also be leading some carolling...well, actually notreally carolling because most of the Christmas songs they knowaren't really carols (e.g. the one about baking)...BUT we'll all getto sing some Christmas (related) songs together!Admission is at $10 per person (with no student concession...itsthe holidays!) and will come with...like we said, a little food anda little drink... but we hope it will be a lot of fun!

We're now officially open for reservations - pleasewriteus@bluemoo.com.sg with "Reservations for littledo@blueMoo" inyour subject line and let us know how many people. Unlike normalevenings, we will be having free seating for the evening (for sometechnical reason which escapes me).

Seats will be arranged inclusters of 7 (also don't ask me why),...so you should ideally comein a group of 7 (you, wife, 3 kids, maid and mother-in-law. Just don't sit next to mother-in-law).Please remember to include your handphone number so we can call youto confirm and inform you if we are shifting to the auditorium (inthe event of rain)

The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes. The bass is Bert Bacco, showing off his really deep rumble. Next is Deke Sharon and Garth Kravitis, the group's vocal instrumentalist wh...
