BP @ YMCA open house, West Coast Park and Tekka Market update

Dear BPites....ha ha (something new) Firstly, the Tekka Market experiment has been postponed...dont knowwhy, ...will keep all informed ... as more info gets in. Oooo...was looking forward to singing amidst Goat Heads.... 2ndly, the show at West Coast Park is about 30 mins and we are supposed to invite unsuspecting guests to sing with us onstage....singers need not apply, we can't afford people who sing better then us!!!3rdly, YMCA is having their open house on Saturday 22 Jan from 6.30 at the 4th level. We have been asked to sing an opening segment of about 15 mins. Then there is a buffet dinner at $10,..I suppose to get to know the YMCA more. Yeah, kinda like a pre-dinner show. Thanks

The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes.
