UpBeat sings Broadway at Esplanade ~ 22 & 23 Jan !

Hi all,

Hope everyone is having a good 2007 so far. UpBeat will be performing at the Esplanade Indoor Concourse tomorrow (22 Jan) and Tuesday evening (23 Jan), 7.30 and 8.30pm on both days, a selection of a cappella broadway tunes. It will be the same programme for all 4 sessions so do come watch this free performance after work/school if you are available. Thank you for your support and encouragement and we hope to see you sometime over the next 2 days!

INTERNATIONAL A CAPPELLA FESTIVAL 14 -18OCT 2009 The A Cappella Society would like to invite you to our International A Cappella Festival for 2009. The Festival will take place at the Esplanade Recital Studio and The Arts House Chamber. The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes.
