Hi everyone!

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us at The A Cappella Society!

One week to go to our A Cappella workshop as part of Esplanade's Bitesize series. There are still a few tickets left at SISTIC, so come and join us at The Esplanade for a fun post-Xmas family outing to experience first hand how those wonderful Christmas carols are put together!

If you're up early on 24 December, make sure to tune in to 938Live's Breakfast Club at 7am, and listen to our own Director Angelina Choo chit-chatting about A Cappella music.

As this year comes to an end, we want to express our thanks for all your support for A Cappella. We will continue working towards a growing presence and influence of A Cappella in the arts scene in 09 and hope to see you at our programmes!

The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes.
