Harvard Din Tonics on our island on 6 Aug 2010 !

Hi folks,

Dillon from Harvard Din Tonic [affectionately a.k.a the Dins] dropped me an email to say that they will be having a concert on 6 Aug 2010. If you are curious about how they sound like, here are some sound samples... Details as follows:

The Harvard Din & Tonics World Tour 2010
Presents
The National Din Parade 2010

In concert for one night only at the Raffles Hotel Jubilee Hall, the world's premier collegiate jazz a cappella group returns to Singapore on their 11th biennial World Tour.

The Harvard Din & Tonics comprise 12 male Harvard undergraduates. They are internationally renown for their energetic performances pairing excellent musicianship with their trademark humour "with a twist", celebrated by audiences that have included Ella Fitzgerald, Yo Yo Ma, Bill Clinton and Sharon Stone. The Dins sing mostly jazz, but also present a diverse repertoire of well-loved music including doo-wop, show tunes, romantic ballads and gospel. These include crowd favourites like “McDonald’s Girl”, “Route 66”, “Honeysuckle Rose” and “Summertime”.

With the National Din Parade 2010, the group offers an entertaining musical celebration for everyone young and old. Come and be charmed by these Harvard gentlemen performing in white tie, tailcoats, and their signature lime green socks. You’ll see why the group has an enviable reputation for their impeccable musicality, snappy choreography, and hilarious antics.

It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes. The bass is Bert Bacco, showing off his really deep rumble. Next is Deke Sharon and Garth Kravitis, the group's vocal instrumentalist wh...
