Happy April fool’s day! Vocal Edge is back again this year with a bigger, edgier and meatier performance! This year’s VE2 will feature Tobias Hug, master vocal percussionist and bass from Grammy-award winning a cappella group, the Swingle Singers. Expect to learn tips on making a cappella music and sing along to contemporary tunes with Tobias and our singers!

VOCAL EDGE is a concert series set to be the ultimate a cappella experience for both the performers and audiences by bringing the best singers into rehearsal and master classes with world experts in the a cappella and music domains. 

Featuring Tobias Hug, supernova Vocal Percussionist and bass of the 6-time Grammy Award winning a cappella group, The Swingle Singers, this year’s Vocal Edge concert promises to showcase useful techniques on organic music creation, circle song singing, improvisation and theatrics. Hear contemporary standards revised, new arrangements and recent hit songs in a collaborative journey through the world of the human voice this VE 2!


A Cappella Championships

This is the one and only competition in Singapore that celebrates the talents of the local a cappella community! Plus, this year the A Cappella Championships is part of the SHINE YOUTH FESTIVAL, so be there all you young people, or those who are young at heart, to be part of biggest action in the vocal music community in Singapore!

The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes.
