Sit back and start feeling good as all-female a cappella group, nanu, takes you through the night with sweet harmonies spanning pop, evergreens and R&B in languages including English, Mandarin, Japanese and Tagalog.

From being finalists in Big Break, to performing at local functions to recording songs on three compilation albums to overseas performances in Jakarta, Boston?s East Coast A Cappella Summit and the Netherlands?s Vocal Competition, nanu has grown from strength to strength.

nanu is Angelina Choo, Eleanor Choo, Lim Huimin, Melissa Tham and Sara Wei, with guest beat-boxer Ryan Chan.

If you are primarily a  beatboxer / vocal percussionist , please give us a  demonstration (approx 2-3 mins) , which can include anything and everything you’re comfortable with (straight-ahead beats, fills, freestyle beatboxing, etc).  ALSO, please include a segment where you do a simple beat at a comfortable tempo along with a metronome.  No need to be flashy for this part, we just want to see that you can keep a solid tempo. The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes. INTERNATIONAL A CAPPELLA FESTIVAL 14 -18OCT 2009 The A Cappella Society would like to invite you to our International A Cappella Festival for 2009. The Festival will take place at the Esplanade Recital Studio and The Arts House Chamber. It will be spread over a period of 5 days, beginning on the 14th of October 2009 and ending on the 18th of October 2009. The International A Cappella Festival will showcase performances from 4 different foreign groups compromising of Permanent Fish from Japan, Rock 4 from The Netherlands, MayTree from Korea and Tux from The Philippines.
