Hi folks,

Just a gentle reminder that Sunday Vocal Jam is this Sunday (30th Nov) at the The Old Parliament House from 4pm - 6pm. Admission is FREE! Please call 97921429 or email zara@pacific.net.sg to reserve your seats. (Limited seats)

We'll be singing to Gweneth Paltrow's Cruisin and 98 Degrees' I Do Cherish You. (Love ballads month). We'll also get to watch the premier performances of all-guy team SWAT and the ladies from the a cappella training class at the Temasek Polytechnic. Of course we will see Resonance again this month who will guide us through the arrangements.

We are also expecting guests from KL. Some of the singers from the Wicked Pitches are in town and as well as Mr Detwiler who is our clinician for Camp A Cappella 2003 this year.

Pls note that the workshop on the 29th has been postponed till further notice. All are invited to join in the two-day workshops.

The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes. International A Cappella Festival for 2009 info

INTERNATIONAL A CAPPELLA FESTIVAL 14 -18OCT 2009 The A Cappella Society would like to invite you to our International A Cappella Festival for 2009. The Festival will take place at the Esplanade Recital Studio and The Arts House Chamber. It will be spread over a period of 5 days, beginning on the 14th of October 2009 and ending on the 18th of October 2009. The International A Cappella Festival will showcase performances from 4 different foreign groups compromising of Permanent Fish from Japan, Rock 4 from The Netherlands, MayTree from Korea and Tux from The Philippines. This year’s line up of a cappella teams features a variety of musical styles with rock music from Queen, Police & Sting by Rock 4 (Netherlands), Pop from Permanent Fish (Japan), Korean Pop from MayTree and the golden oldies and familiar favorites from Tux (Philippines).
