Mosaic Music Festival - Brazllian dreams

The New York Voices is famed for their excellence in jazz and the art of group singing. The Grammy Award winning vocal sensation will be collaborating with Paquito D'Rivera in his musical interpretation of Antonio Carlos Jobim's classics like Corcovado, Desafinado and works by other contemporary Brazilian composers as well as his own celebrated compositions.


Opening Act: Vocaluptuous, formed by a few of the pioneers for a cappella music in Singapore, the local sextet is one of the better known groups. Their album, All Wrapped Up was nominated for Best Holiday Song in the international Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards, they will open for Brazilian dream with their jazz, bossa nova, latin flavourites.

The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes. INTERNATIONAL A CAPPELLA FESTIVAL 14 -18OCT 2009 The A Cappella Society would like to invite you to our International A Cappella Festival for 2009. The Festival will take place at the Esplanade Recital Studio and The Arts House Chamber. It will be spread over a period of 5 days, beginning on the 14th of October 2009 and ending on the 18th of October 2009. The International A Cappella Festival will showcase performances from 4 different foreign groups compromising of Permanent Fish from Japan, Rock 4 from The Netherlands, MayTree from Korea and Tux from The Philippines.
