Happy New Year from The A Cappella Society!

A big thank you to everyone who participated in our Christmas shows in December, singing, organizing or supporting. We had a great time and lots of fun and that would not have been possible without you! Looking ahead to 2007 we have big plans for the society and A Cappella music inSingapore. Starting the year with probably the biggest name in A Cappella, TheReal Group. We hope you will continue supporting us with all our plans and helpgrow the image and impact of vocal music in the country.Our main goal for 2007 is to make A Cappella music a more consistent part of theevents calendar and a more household name in people's minds.Let's make it another year of great A Cappella development for Singapore!

(4) ARTS EDUCATION 2007 with NANU

The Society is back in the schools next year with Rock pop A Cappella with nanu, a programme that will present an interactive programme of contemporary songscatering to the younger audience. This programme is available all year round.The Society also has training programmes available for schools. More details at our website www.a-cappella.org.sg

(5) A CAPPELLA IN TAIWAN
If you love the fried chicken and the ice monster desserts in Taiwan, thesewould make good weekend getaways! Good food and excellent a cappella music?The Taiwan Choral Association under the direction of Mr. Ray Chu will host 2festivals, the Spring Singing Festival in March, hosting Sweden?s Vocal 6,Austria?s TRIU and Hungary's Unicum Laude. And the other, the TaiwanInternational Choral Festival will be held from 5 to 12 October 2007. Moredetails on www.tcmc.org.tw/festival

(6) POP SINGING & A CAPPELLA TRAINING CLASSES
TAS will continue working with Dylan Foster of the Flying Pickets in 2007 holding masterclasses, workshops and singing classes. Dylan's portfolio isavailable upon request.

If you are interested to be part of the Society as a singer or beat boxer,auditions are open to everyone young and young at heart. The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes. International A Cappella Festival for 2009 info

INTERNATIONAL A CAPPELLA FESTIVAL 14 -18OCT 2009 The A Cappella Society would like to invite you to our International A Cappella Festival for 2009. The Festival will take place at the Esplanade Recital Studio and The Arts House Chamber. It will be spread over a period of 5 days, beginning on the 14th of October 2009 and ending on the 18th of October 2009. The International A Cappella Festival will showcase performances from 4 different foreign groups compromising of Permanent Fish from Japan, Rock 4 from The Netherlands, MayTree from Korea and Tux from The Philippines. This year’s line up of a cappella teams features a variety of musical styles with rock music from Queen, Police & Sting by Rock 4 (Netherlands), Pop from Permanent Fish (Japan), Korean Pop from MayTree and the golden oldies and familiar favorites from Tux (Philippines).
