Vocal jamming sessions

          Group Rehearsal

    • This is rehearsal for your a cappella group comprised of 7-12 other campers.  You’ll rehearse daily, perform at the camp showcase, and record a track on the camp album.
    • Academy Choir
      • All campers sing together in the epic Academy Choir! We’ll sing choral and contemporary works spanning many different genres.
      • Tracks and Electives
        • You’ll sign up for tracks and electives based on your specific interests.  In the past, we’ve offered tracks for vocal performance, arranging, directing, and songwriting. For electives, we’ve offered such topics as vocal percussion, active listening, social media, recording, live sound, group dynamics, business management, and much more.
        • Guest Performances
          • As part of the curriculum, we’ll feature guest artists who will provide interactive insight into their area of expertise via performances, workshops, and Q&A sessions.
          • Individual Practices
            • There will be opportunities throughout camp to work on your own so that you can put everything you are learning into practice.  Additionally, you will be able to sign up to work one-on-one with some of our amazing staff.
            • Activities/Leisure Time
              • Though it will be intense and focused, camp won’t be all a cappella all the time! We also have free time built into the schedule. You can do yoga and hike just above campus in the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains.

            • Location
            • A Cappella Academy is held at Mount St. Mary’s University Chalon Campus in Los Angeles: 56 beautiful acres perched atop the Santa Monica Mountains. The campus offers stunning 360° views of Los Angeles, and sits just across the hill from the world famous Getty Center.

            • Blending traditional Spanish Colonial architecture and state of the art classroom technology, Mount St. Mary’s provides a natural, rustic vibe without sacrificing the comforts of modern technology.  Students stay in campus dormitories and eat in the full-service cafeteria.  Other amenities include a snack bar, strong wi-fi network, pool, hiking trails, and a wonderful main courtyard to relax in!

    The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes. The bass is Bert Bacco, showing off his really deep rumble. Next is Deke Sharon and Garth Kravitis, the group's vocal instrumentalist wh
