Lastly, don't forget to come join us this July 7th at the Esplanade Foyer for the National A Cappella Championships 2005! 13 groups will compete in 3 categories for wonderful prizes. The event will be hosted by Juz B.

"Arts for Health" , a monthly programme by SGH is looking for volunteer groups. This is held on the last friday of each month from 7pm to 8pm. Performances will be carried out for SGH's patients lasting about 45 mins each time.? EMPRESS CHAMBER CHOIR COMPETITION


This competition is open to choirs from around the world and aims at creating an occasion for musical exchange and dialogue and the sharing of musical traditions. ?The competition is held in Singapore from Sept 22-23rd 2005. The first prize is S$10,000.

NEED AN ARRANGER??
Want to sing the latest chart-topping song but don't have an arrangement of it? Fret not, local arranger Jeremy Ho wants to write arrangements for your acappella group! An experienced acappella singer/percussionist and arranger, Jeremy has written arrangements for Nanu, Ngam, Skritch and the Notations, and was the arranger of the set-pieces for last year's National A Cappella Competition. His arrangements are also featured on the two CDs, Urban Infusion and Mistletoe. All styles are welcome, including Contemporary English/Chinese Pop/R&B, Hip-Hop/Rap, Vocal Jazz, Doo-wop/Barbershop, Christmas Carols, Gospel Worship Songs, as well as medleys of songs.

The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes. International A Cappella Festival for 2009 info

INTERNATIONAL A CAPPELLA FESTIVAL 14 -18OCT 2009 The A Cappella Society would like to invite you to our International A Cappella Festival for 2009. The Festival will take place at the Esplanade Recital Studio and The Arts House Chamber. It will be spread over a period of 5 days, beginning on the 14th of October 2009 and ending on the 18th of October 2009. The International A Cappella Festival will showcase performances from 4 different foreign groups compromising of Permanent Fish from Japan, Rock 4 from The Netherlands, MayTree from Korea and Tux from The Philippines. This year’s line up of a cappella teams features a variety of musical styles with rock music from Queen, Police & Sting by Rock 4 (Netherlands), Pop from Permanent Fish (Japan), Korean Pop from MayTree and the golden oldies and familiar favorites from Tux (Philippines).
