(6) ASIAN CHOIR GAMES
The 1st Asian Choir Games Jakarta 2007 ~ The Asia Pacific Olympics for choirs will be a great gathering of choirs from all parts of the Asian PacificArea. In Jakarta from November 2nd until November 10th choirs are competing in21 different categories according to age, voicing and different music genres.Infos at www.asianchoirgames.com

Looking for Male Singers:
Hello Everybody, my friends and I are looking for men who are interested indoing choral music and hopefully, to go to this year's Asian Choral Games in Jakarta, which will be held in November. Who knows, if this group works out well, it may be a long term thing. Our idea is to be able to share music with everybody, so as long as you can hold a pitch and are interested in choralmusic, you're most welcome to join us, regardless of if you're experienced or not.

What is the Group going to be like?
Group Size: 8-10 Male Voices (for ACG); Can be slightly bigger for those who are interested. Voice parts:Counter-tenor, Tenor, Baritone, Bass (2-3 people per group)

Type of Music:
Modern/Living Composers to Classical to Gospels to Spirituals.
I should saywe'll try everything at least once =)

Environment: We really want to enjoy andhave fun. After all, music should be about enjoyment too. Why males only?Because we can! Haha. Let's try everything once.

We really don't mean to discriminate, but we just want to try something rather different in Singapore. A small, chamber size choir that gives everyone the chance to do music thatmost community choirs overseas are doing. Well, the formation of this group is not for ACG alone, but also to just have a group that enjoys music as much as we do.

So if you want to sing and try something challenging yet fun, just e-mail me at s.teo88@gmail.com and we'll carry on from there. Oh yes, and what's the name of the group? I've no idea too, that?s something for you to help us decide.

=) Cheers Shaun Teo

(9) COMMENTS
Thank you for helping to bring The Real Group to Singapore for the first time. I think many in the local a cappella scene waited so loooooong to have someone make their last concert here possible. And we have so much to thank Angie! I think that it is fantastic that TAS is trying its best to bring internationalclass acts to Singapore namely M-Pact and The Real Group recently. It can onlybe beneficial and inspirational for local acts. Please do continue to invite them and other quality groups in the future! And hopefully in the near future,it'll be our local groups' turns to tour europe and america =P
*Just some suggestions* Perhaps the current homepage should have a forum added to it, or at least a tagboard. Don't you agree that it is important to provide a channel for local a cappella hobbyists to interact, and what better channel than TAS website?Maybe we can expect more pictures of groups on the homepage as well? It'll definitely make the website more vibrant!Cantabile,Timothy

The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes. The bass is Bert Bacco, showing off his really deep rumble. Next is Deke Sharon and Garth Kravitis, the group's vocal instrumentalist wh
