ROCKAPELLA back in S'pore on 4 Nov !

Formed in the States in the mid-eighties, the most visible practitioners of new doo-wop vocals is best-known for its contributions to the award-winning Public Broadcasting Station show "Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?". The success the group gained in television and radio led to the completion of six revolutionary albums for North America and ten for Japan.

The quintet, which consists of Scott Leonard, Kevin Wright, George Baldi, John Brown and Jeff Thacer has modernized the art of a cappella. Their mind-blowing music that blends elements of rock, pop, jazz and soul is deceptively witty, unabashedly innovative while staying cheerfully accessible. The group brings down the house everywhere they go, building legions of fans across the globe. "The sound you are about to hear has occurred once in the history of pop music," claims Rockapella producer, writer, arranger Scott Leonard. Every element of this sound is unique "four world-class voices and one freak of nature " combining to shred the noise's glare and free the music's simple soulful ass-kicking light. Hearing is believing.

Get ready for a highly interactive and pulsating night of entertainment. Being the originators of a new flavour of contemporary pop music, Rockapella re-defined familiar favourites like The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Here Comes the Sun, and My Girl. Rockapella’s innovative vocal harmony bring a cappella to a completely different level. A solid chain, Rockapella’s players – Scott Leonard, Kevin Wright, George Baldi (formerly from Boys II Men), John Brown and Jeff Thatcher – are the top of their craft. Their pulsating, super-charged concert will leave you on an all-time high well past the last song.

The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes. The bass is Bert Bacco, showing off his really deep rumble. Next is Deke Sharon and Garth Kravitis, the group's vocal instrumentalist wh
