(8) TUNES TO TEENS – Practically FREE CDs for your students.
Calling Choir Directors of Secondary and Primary Schools, if you are keen to attain some fabulous a cappella CDs for your students, this is one good source! Simply write to chris@casa.org for more information. Each choir is able to receive up to 150 pcs of CDs.
“Tunes To Teens is a non-profit program of the Contemporary A Cappella Society (www.casa.org) designed to put a cappella CDs into the hands of developing singers. Chorus by chorus, TTT sends junior high and high school students a cappella CDs donated by a variety of sources. The program's goal is to spark interest in a cappella music in up-and-coming singers.

Donated CDs are sent out to junior high and high school chorus directors. The director will send me US$1.50 for each student in their chorus (one CD per student), to help cover our expenses. Students should not be charged to help contribute to the fee. These CDs should be free to them; they are not buying them. Most choruses will pay for their fee through school funds. This is very important, because I want them to see this as a gift to them, from CASA, from the donator of the CD, and from you and the school.

CASA sends a director a box of a cappella CDs of a variety of different styles, and they give each of the students in their chorus a CD to keep as their own. The students can lend or swap them with their friends, further spreading their exposure. Choruses can participate repeatedly in TTT if they become CASA members. Non-member choruses may only participate once.”

The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes. The bass is Bert Bacco, showing off his really deep rumble. Next is Deke Sharon and Garth Kravitis, the group's vocal instrumentalist wh
