September is here and my, do we have a lot of news for you! 4 concerts in September and October that will leave you totally inspired and entertained! Check out Tic Tac Tone÷Õ role in The Necessary Stage÷Õ play Sing Song and don÷Ö miss the concert at the Esplanade by the Russian quintet, Acappella Exspresss. In October, you must not miss, all female vocal band, nanu÷Õ maiden concert on the 1st & 2nd and the launch of Notations?new dance and disco repertoire that will funk up your weekend.

3) TIC TAC TONE in SING SONG

After six months of collecting people's musical memories, Sing Song is a tribute to the musical stories of people's lives. It is hilarious, heart-breaking, nostalgic and powerful. 4) NANU IN CONCERT

1ST & 2ND October at Mox Bar & Cafe, 21 Tanjong Pagar Road, 7.30pm.

PRESIDENT'S STAR CHARITY
Caught the Singapore Idol finalists in an a cappella rendition of Stand By Me by Babes Conde is the Musical Director for the programme. Kudos Babes!

RAISING HELEN
If you haven caught it yet, go catch this palatable, feel-good movie and check out the beat-boxing waiter when he raps Happy Birthday in the movie. It's at least a full 15 -30 sec clip. AWESOME J

The House Jacks in Singapore!!

Review: Our local percussionist star, Peter Huang opened the show for the House Jacks (HJs). He introduced a song or 2 from his debut solo album which the instruments were vocalised by him using layering to create a 'band sound'. However, the audience didn't take to his performance. It was grating to the ears when he made certain sounds: more like noise than music to the ears. There was a slight limp in his leg since his recovery from an accident, which prevented him from dancing around the stage too much. I think it's better that he sticks to his vocal percussion than his weak singing or hiphop rap. People were more impressed with his percussion than him singing or rapping. Good & tight harmony I would say. If you have heard Wes Carrol, the group percussionist, Peter Huang seem amateurish. Real solid vocal percussion from Wes. International A Cappella Festival for 2009 info

INTERNATIONAL A CAPPELLA FESTIVAL 14 -18OCT 2009 The A Cappella Society would like to invite you to our International A Cappella Festival for 2009. The Festival will take place at the Esplanade Recital Studio and The Arts House Chamber. It will be spread over a period of 5 days, beginning on the 14th of October 2009 and ending on the 18th of October 2009. The International A Cappella Festival will showcase performances from 4 different foreign groups compromising of Permanent Fish from Japan, Rock 4 from The Netherlands, MayTree from Korea and Tux from The Philippines. This year’s line up of a cappella teams features a variety of musical styles with rock music from Queen, Police & Sting by Rock 4 (Netherlands), Pop from Permanent Fish (Japan), Korean Pop from MayTree and the golden oldies and familiar favorites from Tux (Philippines).
